Helping Beaumont-area parents raise up children who love God and love learning for a lifetime, through teaching and discipleship

We combine the flexibility and personal attention of homeschooling with the professional instruction and well-rounded education of a private school.

Veritas Classical Academy serves Christian families dedicated to education and discipleship. Our chief aim is to raise up young men and women who excel academically and love the Lord Jesus and His Word. We do this with a unique school model that lets parents participate at all times in their children's education, while also providing the benefits of a private school community in a fully accredited school—and at a fraction of the cost of traditional five-day school.

Mondays and Wednesdays are full on-campus classroom days, with all the benefits of a private Christian school:

A time-tested teaching method that mirrors children’s natural development. Students master Latin, are immersed in great literature, and learn to reason as God's image bearers.

Close parental supervision & input at all times

It is always good to be present and involved. At Veritas, you can do this even when your kids are at school—we welcome parents to campus as volunteers or classroom observers.

Excellent academic outcomes

Be confident that your children are developing the knowledge and rigor required to enter and excel in any higher education setting.

For parents who want confidence that they're giving their kids the best Christian education

Preparing your children for the level of rigor required at college isn't easy, especially alone. It's even harder when you have to single-handedly teach them to love Jesus at the same time. Doing everything yourself is a heavy burden—selecting a curriculum, prepping, teaching, marking, reviewing, discipling, praying…

It is no sin to need time off during the week, and it is no sin to want help from more experienced people. But you still want to remain involved in your children's education: to ensure it is not just about putting facts about the world into their heads, but also about producing a love for the Lord Jesus in their hearts.

Veritas was created to ensure that you can. It is a school where teachers and parents collaborate to educate children, in a unique model that is flexible, supportive, and cost-effective. Most importantly, it is a school where the Bible is respected, and children are discipled in the faith.

Our purpose is to join with you in the duty of raising your kids in the fear and admonition of the Lord, preparing them to live well as God's image-bearers. Our staff will love and nurture your children, and help and support you. Our belief is that you should never look back on your children's education and wish you could do it again.

How Does It Work?

Students attend classes Monday and Wednesday, with professional teachers in a traditional classroom. On Tuesdays and Thursdays (and Fridays for 5th and up), students complete assignments at home with the assistance of a “co-teacher”—typically you.

Lesson plans at school and at home are completely done for you by our professional teachers. You can be more actively involved in your children’s education without the hassle and stress of planning lessons, or sorting through thousands of curriculum options. You get to do the fun part: assisting your children as they explore God’s word and His revealed truth in creation.

For older students, Veritas teaches independence and study skills. Beginning in 5th grade and increasing through high school, students can self-direct many of their studies at home. Learning to work without the typical handholding of a 5-day school benefits them in higher education. Veritas high school students have the experience of working under the guidance of their instructor, while developing the independence and self-discipline that makes the transition to college natural and easy.

This is the "mechanical" side of our school—the part we have to explain so it makes sense next to a traditional school schedule. But our heart is captured in our statement of purpose:

Our purpose at Veritas is to teach students to love God and to love learning for a lifetime.

To achieve this, we follow a discipleship model. Just as soldiers must train in a controlled environment before being sent to war, we believe children from Christian homes are best served in developing their faith when their peers and teachers share the same mission. We prepare students to be citizens of God’s Kingdom, and to meaningfully engage with the world when they are ready to enter it.

We provide an environment where children can celebrate the commonalities of the Christian faith. All of Veritas' board members, administrative staff, families, and faculty affirm our Statement of Faith. We do not take on anyone who does not. Everyone at Veritas acknowledges Christ as both the source and the goal of all creation and history — and the center of any discussion of truth, beauty, and goodness.

The benefits of classical education

Many seek out Christian, private education because of the obvious challenges of the public school system. From lowering academic standards with nationally-mandated curriculums like Common Core, to erroneous court rulings dictating the complete erasure of the Christian faith from the classroom, parents are coming to the conclusion that there must be a better way.

What many people don’t know is that the public school system as we know it is less than 150 years old. It was created to produce reliable factory workers, and while its founders called themselves “humanists” they stripped humanity out of education. Instead of seeing knowledge as a collective whole under God, subjects became isolated. Mathematics was a series of formulas and techniques, not a reflection of an ordered universe created by an ordered God. The teaching of history as a way to honor our country’s heritage gave way to “social studies” and biased political agendas.

Classical education is a Christian movement that is very simple. We seek to restore the older way of education prevalent in the United States before the creation of the factory-type public school system. In studying the history of our country, it turns out our forefathers received a type of education that has been part of our civilization for at least a thousand years. Because it is older, time-tested, and proven, we call this approach “classical education.”

Perhaps the most distinctive aspect of classical education is how all subjects bleed together. All truth is God’s truth, and whether we are studying plants or presidents, the arc of knowledge and history always points back to the Creator. We teach younger children the facts about the world around them. Middle school students learn to piece together those facts in a logical whole. High school students learn to express these truths in a persuasive way to change the world around them.

We also study Latin and Greek. Learning ancient languages may sound strange to modern ears, but this was an essential part of education in our country’s history. From George Washington to Patrick Henry to John Adams, the founders of our country studied these languages.

Why? First, Latin in particular is much more grammatically complex than English. Because of this, Latin can often say in two words what would take five words in English. If you understand Latin grammar, English grammar is easy by comparison.

Second, about three quarters of English is derived from Latin and Greek. Rumors of these languages' demise are greatly exaggerated — they are used extensively in science, math, medicine, and law. And of course, the New Testament is written in Greek, so our students are able to interact with it in its original language.

The generation of America’s founding knew that mastery of language was one of the most important skills any leader can have. We successfully teach these languages to students of every ability level, to their lifelong benefit as speakers, writers, and communicators.
